Francene WinetiFrancene Wineti: Policy Analyst

Francene Wineti (Te Atihaunui-a-Paparangi and Ngati Kahungunu) grew up in Tauranga Moana.

Francene has a passion for the marine environment and has been involved in marine sciences in some shape or form for most of her life. She graduated in 2001 with a Master in Aquaculture from Deakin University.

Francene has worked on various aquaculture projects with Paua, Australian freshwater fish and crustaceans, and a past fish health performance scientist for New Zealand’s Salmon farming industry.  

She was awarded the Te Ohu Kaimoana Trustee Limited’s Global Fisheries Training Programme for 2004 – 2005. This is an elite scholarship which provides international fisheries and aquaculture business training in Japan with Nippon Suisan Kaisha (NISSUI).

Francene joined Te Ohu Kaimoana in 2005 and is one of our contact people for Hauauru and Te Moana o Raukawa.  Her key role is working on the Aquaculture settlement and aquaculture development for iwi.
